the real Derviş!
hatched in 2018 in Istanbul.
a rescue budgie that has inspired, humbled and informed beyond measure.

Rümeysa was born in the Netherlands, lived in Japan, and is currently based in Türkiye, where she founded Derviş Studio.

She is deeply fascinated by animals, with a particular soft spot for birds. Through animation and illustration, she celebrates the miracles of the natural world, drawing inspiration from the rich artistic heritage of the Islamic world.

Her work is created for children and for childlike souls who long for cultural and narrative familiarity.

Committed to preserving the integrity of genuine storytelling, Rümeysa primarily works with traditional tools. She does not use AI in her creative process and consciously protects craftsmanship, even when engaging with digital mediums.

While her artistic motivation serves a distinctive niche, she is equally enthusiastic about collaborating on a wide range of commercial and social projects, approaching each with both creativity and critical thought.
